If you want peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, set up camp at Big Timber KOA. Explorers Lewis and Clark once hiked through the surrounding countryside. Hollywood camped amid these big grassy meadows and timbered mountains too, while filming The Horse Whisperer.

For a big wet dose of fun, grab your swimsuit and walk next door to the Big Timber Waterslide. The park includes a junior-Olympic-size swimming pool and a little pool for tadpoles. KOA guests receive a discount. There’s more watery action to be had in Montana’s famous fly-fishing rivers, like the nearby Yellowstone and Boulder. Kids will love viewing the critters at Prairie Dog Town State Park and slurping the Montana-made ice cream available at the campground’s own Toni’s Ice Cream Shack.
